Hi all,

I wasn't sure what section to post this in... it's kinda bodywork / interior / electrical - I thought I'd start here. :)

I have an '09 C63 4-door saloon.
I discovered yesterday that my drivers side *rear* door doesn't reliably lock or unlock via central locking.

I can hear the motors firing in all doors, and you can sometimes see the little lock "stump" move a little but it's really hit 'n' miss as to whether it'll unlock... or more importantly, lock.

Any tips on where to start? I've taken door cards off car doors before - but never on a modern MB. Should I even have a poke around myself or just resign myself to getting a hefty bill and take it to a dealer?

Thanks,

Bobsta

Bump. Any ideas? Presumably not a common fault?

Havent heard of this but get it to a trusty indy and I'm it will me sorted. Wondering if the car registers this as an error and star could pinpoint the fault.

More than likely a fault within the door lock mechanism itself.
You may find that once you remove door panel you will be faced with an alloy panel that is riveted to the door.
If not done one its a tricky job.
I would advise to get it looked at before it fails, I have done a few of these that have failed in the locked position whilst door is shut and you have to damage door trims and other parts to get door open before you can work on it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I dropped in to my local Merc-specialist indy today and they've ordered a new lock to be fitted next week. Gonna cost me £140 plus one hour's labour plus VAT ... but I guess it's gotta be done.
