can anyone tell me why some of my folders aren't being seen on the memory card (PCMCIA adapter) on my W204 C Class?

if i have a load of mp3s in one directory it'll see the mp3s (so i know they're OK) but if i put them in individual folders it just doesn't even mention them... and it's not like they're towards the end of the alphabet, if that makes sense

(EG, if i create a Bob Marley folder and put the associated files in there it just won't show that folder. but if i have all the Bob Marley mp3s in a folder called ZZZ along with 100's of other unsorted mp3s it'll show them in there without issue)

Scandisk 32Gb SD card in a Merc adapter for the record

any help appreciated :thumb:

Hmmm. I use a 32Gb Compact Flash Card in a after-market compact flash to PCMCIA adaptor from Ebay and have no problems. Given that you are using the official Merc adaptor for your SD card I doubt that is the problem.

I have multiple folders (one per artist) with sub-folders for each album and then the MP3 files in each sub-folder. Note that the MP3s are renamed so that the track number is part of the file name (at the beginning) so that the tracks play in the correct order. i.e. 01 - View From The Afternoon, 02 - I Bet You Looked Good On The Dancefloor etc.

It might be worth re-formatting the card and trying again. Also I don't know if there is a limit to the number of folder levels you can have. How many are you trying?

Also, can you describe the method you are using to create the folder structure on the card and copy the MP3s?

Hi There is a limit on the number of folders. Without checking that limit might be 99 but I'll have to check. Have you copied some of the folders on to the hard drive -if you do that you can delete the duplicate from the card to save room.

number of folders.... might be that....i'll double check
thanks
