Hi All,

I'm trying to work out why the passenger footwell only gets ice cold air even when temperature is on max. I suspect there is a sensor somewhere but it does not appear to be located in the footplate as suggested by various google searches. Also, is this likely to be the issue or something else? The air-con was re-gassed prior to me purchasing the car last month. Could low AC gas level cause this even with A/C off? Seems to get colder at higher altitudes but never warm/hot.

Any ideas?

Not sure on your W204, but on the pre-facelift W212 there’s a temperate sensor located near the cabin filter in the passenger footwell.

I had to buy a new connector and pins for mine, as it had been broken by someone during its lifetime. It did log a code on the diagnostics though.

So worth a look to see if you have the same issue - either check the HVAC system for fault codes or have a look and see if you have this connector on your model and that it’s plugged in/not damaged :thumb:

There wont be a sensor, it will the vent is blocked or has been disconnected somehow.

Hi Will,

Thanks for the reply only I had already looked at this prior to creating the thread. There is no sensor in my footplate and the glovebox light is also not located on the footplate so the pre-facelift must have been different. I made sure the vents were connected when I re-fitted the footplate so not sure if there is a blockage somewhere else? I guess I'll keep looking.

Cheers,

Dom

I think I just figured it out! There is no pollen filter so it must be constant cold air coming down the housing! Just ordered the filter but pretty confident this is it. This was my dad's car and my mum always complained of cold feet since they bought it 10yrs ago! It's been to Mercedes and various German Car Specialists over the years with a new blower motor fitted last year yet nobody spotted this!
