w204 c180
hI, I bought a very clean & loaded 2012 C180 which the near side wheel had hit a high kerb / island sticking out. A bit of suspension damage/ alloy and superficial bodywork. Its all repaired, air bags replaced, tensioners replaced etc, but the srs light is ON. The fault code is (B273513)- Squib for the pyro fuse has malfunction - high resistance. Basicly, the pyrotechnic fuse is in the main cable from the battery +ve terminal down to the starter motor. In a hard impact it fires off a bit like an airbag to disconnect the battery. This car starts and drives perfect, hence rather than replace the item (A204 440 3054) at over £200 - CAN IT BE BY-PASSED? Or is it sensed like an airbag or pretensioner ??? and hence could be overcome by putting a 3.0 ohm fuse across the sensor lead.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OR ADVISE ON THIS THOUGHT IT WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED. Car is for personal use and would prefer not to spend over £200 just to extinguish the srs lamp ( mot failure).

THANKS

Typo in thread

For 3.0 ohm fuse READ 3.0 ohm RESISTOR. sorry

Strange. The high resistance happens once the "explosive" charge has exploded thus disconnecting the battery. Given your battery is connected, something is weird.

So you probably need to check why this is, i.e has this important safety device been bypassed, or has it been replaced but some wiring failed

Its a 400Amp fuse, F88 in the front pre-fuse fusebox.

Fix it properly, your life is worth more than £200. (Or less if you find one being broken somewhere and get the fuse from that)

Cheers

Richard
