My 58 plate W204 220CDI Sport tells me that there are no rear seatbelts fastened every time I start the car.
Is this normal or does it indicate a fault in the rear seats (car thinks there are rear passengers)?
The car is at the main dealers tomorrow to get the UMI upgrade so if there is a problem it can get looked at then.

In the immortal words of James May 'Oh C*ck'. I shall have to put up with it then.:wallbash:

Perhaps you could fasten the rear belts?

Nice idea but then all it does is display a message saying that all three are plugged in.

Im not too sure if there is a coding that can be changed using the star machine to code it out

Possibly but IIRC on the new cars you now need a MB generated passcode to code anything none standard.

The message goes away shortly anyway and if one feels it stays too long, just ack it from the steering wheel button and it goes away immediately.

There are no weight sensors at the rear seats and the car cannot determine if a belt should have been fastened. The reminder is useful for the driver who would know how many passengers are seated at the rear. A good excuse to ask passengers fasten their belt if they are not used to it (also at the rear seat, where it would be equally your own safety issue as the passenger's).
