Are early W204s having rear subframe problems? Two adverts recently read, state new rear subframe required. One ad. suggests control arm broken away, whereas the other ad. states subframe cracking, and then adds `common problem` Any reports? before I start looking.

Very common problem apparently, with several tales of woe both on here and on the other forum regarding subframes rotting merrily away from the inside out.

My other half's 2008 SLK has just failed the test because of a rusty rear subframe.

Ok Guys, Well, from your replies, it`s looking like before parting with cash, a subframe check is an absolute necessity,
    Thankyou all. Most helpful.

My subframe has just gone, 2007 plate, everything else under the car is fine, was expecting to pass mot as not done many miles this year and recently serviced and subframe and brake lines both corroded.
Have many been lucky and got mercedes to cover costs?

Would this be covered by MB's anti corrosion warranty?

Is there a design flaw that makes it rust away?

MSL replaced the SLK subframe under Mercedes warranty. FREE.
    (It's a 2009 car not 2008 as I said above)
