Hey guys I am getting a great deal on a W204 Tenorite grey C220 cdi sport. Just before I make the plunge I have a few questions to anyone who also owns the C220.

1) What is the performance Like I am coming from the w203 c180k coupe and I want something more powerful. The c220 cdi is also 5 speed gearbox is it better then the new 7 speeds I keep hearing alot about.

2) What are common problems on the C220 cdi it is an 08 plate so anything I should be looking out for.

3) Any opinions on the colour tenorite grey on the C class.

Thanks

Good engine good colour good car. no probs. Only later cars with the 0M651 ENGINE were afflicted with the piezo injector problem now cured. Facelift cars have a better interior but that's about it.

I'm running a 57 plate C220CDI Sport (W204) without any problems.

The 08 plate car you are looking at is a pre-blue efficiency car- the pre-blue efficiency cars have the better engines IMHO. The car you are looking at is has 170bhp- that's a good combo of power and economy.

No real problems with a W204 C220CDI- just do the usual checks- service history, hpi etc.

What options does the car have? Full leather, COMMAND, heated seats? As long as the car has all of the options you want then go for it.

I swopped an S203 C270 for an S204 C220 in late March - 08 plate with same 5 speed auto box. Goes very well when you ask it to, probably noticably quicker than a C180. Main thing I've noticed is a slight hesitation in the gearbox especially when moving away from stationary, for example at a roundabout. There seems to be a 1/2 second delay between applying throttle and car actually deciding to move off - disconcerting, but you get used to it. I use C (comfort) mode rather than S (sport) all the time, maybe that's part of it. Also do not seem to be getting the mpg I got from the C270, still getting 40+ but not the 45+ average I was used to. Engine only has 61k on it, so maybe still "running in"! Other than that, loving the car - it has full leather, comand, heated seats with lumbar support, electric tailgate, stowaway tow hitch, phone and Ipod pre-wire, linguatronic (which I don't find useful!) - not a bad toy list for Elegance trim!
