I've picked up a set of cheap 18" AMG wheels for my W204, currently in for a refurb. But I'm not sure if all W204's came with TPMS as standard and whether I would need anything for the new wheels to retain this if my car has it.... I'm going to be using the 18's for summer and keeping the 17's for winter so I was just wondering how it worked and whether i needed any sensors for the new wheels.... confused! :dk:

If your car can show the tyre pressures on the dash display, you need a sensor for each wheel. I suspect your car has runflat monitor, which uses the ABS sensors to detect a difference in the radius of a wheel with low pressure - with this system, you don't get to see tyre pressure on the dash.

Thanks for the info.... I dont see tyre pressures just a menu that you can rest the monitor... so I presume its the tyre rotation system thingy... unless MB just didnt fit the sensor when i bought the car used!.....

If it has Hi Line TPMS (individual pressures) the valve will look something like this (but probably a bit cleaner ).
