W204 - upper centre console removal

I have a facelift W204 C63, I'd like to remove the upper center console, where the heating, A/C controls, number pad and infotainment buttons are, so as to try and wrap the matte black plastic with something a little more attractive - high-gloss black probably, to match the lower section in front of the gear selector. I presume that whole unit with the buttons can be removed from the dash? If so then can the facia be removed from the button packs?
