Hi there,

I hope this message finds everyone well.

I recently picked up a 2022 Mercedes C63s (06/01/25) from Lougten Mercedes, which has 13K miles and seems to be in good condition. However, during the test drive, I noticed a strange oil warning light on the dashboard, which I brought to their attention. On the day I picked it up, they mentioned that they topped up the oil, but then realised they had added too much, so they had to drain some.

The odd symbol disappeared after that, but this morning when I started the car, the same oil symbol came back on but shortly after driving turned off again. Could anyone help me identify what this warning symbol means and whether it’s something I should be concerned about?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Have you read the manual?

The yellow symbol is for the Stop /Start. If in doubt go back to the dealer.

As above , its the stop / start system is not ready to save the planet - yet . Once it turns green the polar icecaps will stop melting.

Various parameters haven`t been met to let the battery take the load of what has been placed on it or the car isn`t warmed up enough , stopping and starting the vehicle to reset the "fault" will only deplete the battery further so either take it for a run to charge the battery or put it on a charger.

K

EDIT: Actually, now that I think if it, it was the same light, but had dual-function..

On the face of it, it's a sensible warning not to give it 'full beans' while the engine is cold. However (and in addition to the fact that - like most cars - the Alfasud had a standard temp gauge....), given the tiny 1.3L engine - OK, it was a two-stage Solex carb - it was obviously just a gimic added to the 'ti' sporty trim level, like the additional set of gauges in the ventral console.

Yup, it was a great little car, the 1.3ti... an aspiring C63, maybe? <img src="https://cdn.jsdelivr.net/joypixels/assets/8.0/png/unicode/64/1f600.png" class="smilie smilie--emoji" loading="lazy" width="64" height="64" alt=":D" title="Big Grin :D" data-smilie="8"data-shortname=":D" />
