Evening all. Haven’t posted for a while, as work had gotten in the way - but back to play again now.

Background - I have a 2018 C350e Premium, so it didn’t come with Burmester Audio as fitted to the Premium Plus models. I’ve already added CarPlay, via an aftermarket module ( which works really well). I’ve also upgraded the front door speakers & center speaker to Match components ( including the tweeter in the grill above the door card). So mid-range and top end are fine - but it‘s a bit weedy in the bass dept.

I can find a pair of the Burmester 8” subwoofers on eBay for about 180 euro delivered. I know swapping out the standard one on the passengers side for the Burmester is effectively plug and play, but I have some questions about the (extra) one on the drivers side:
  • Do I need a harness, or is it sitting there pre-installed?
  • Do I need to do anything to enable it, once added ( ie does it need turning on via MB-STAR?)
  • Is it worth doing if I don’t add the Burmester Amp as well?

No wrong answers here folks - just looking for your candid views, or ideally experience if you have been here already.

Thanks a mill as always - PC

Hello, did you get a response to this question, I would like to do something similar, but it's a lot of work to access and fit the Subwoofers if there's not much to gain? Any views will be appreciated! Thanks

I fitted Vibe Audio 'subwoofer' speakers to my Cab and it didn't really make much difference. I used an Audison Prima 8.9 Amp to power the system and it wasn't until I added a subwoofer in the boot that I got the bass that I was missing.

The speakers are so low down that all that happens is that your feet get bashed by the drums in your music, which isn't a great feeling..
