W205 C-Class Press Release

much prefer the rear bumper without the ridiculous and pointless side vents

love the blue car with the bonnet star :)

I was speaking to a guy from Mercedes this week who told me that on the new models, in the UK, they would only have bonnet stars on the S class?

Maybe I misunderstood.

If this model follows the precedent of the current W204 and W212 example it will not be available in the UK with the traditional grill and bonnet emblem.
By the way the new 1600 diesel is the cambelt drive Renault engine, found in the present A and B class ----this time in fore and aft configuration. I am fervently hoping the air suspension option makes it to the UK shores and not just in the top spec models either.

Throughout the 90s/early 00s many owners were falling over themselves to fit a BSG (big star grill) now when MB adopt the marker trend everyone goes back to upright stars :)

I sent the video link to the missus, got a message back "In your dreams!" :(

That steering wheel looks awful. Its the bottom section spindle with the hole cut out which looks dire to me.

So virtually the same as my current C-Class then! It's one of the many things I like about my car. Vive la difference.

I still HATE the iPad display so I have a good excuse not to get jealous of owners of the W205 when it hits our shores. And the piddling engines put me off too. (I mainly like the rest of it though.)

The system also brakes in response to stationary vehicles at a speed of up to 31 mph, and is able to prevent rear-end collisions at speeds of up to 25 mph.
How does it prevent rear-end collisions? Launch a missile at anything that comes too close? I want one!

Amazing little car

some things i found out..

1. there will be two dash versions

as per images you have seen , and also this
w205-interior-dashboard-850x798.jpg

this will be on the standard spec model

then there is an avantgarde, an AMG spec and finally an exclusive spec.

4 model lines.

the exclusive will have the bonnet star on the top.

first time in 3 generations that the s class and c class resemble each other like the 190e and w126... with the middle e class inbetween and slightly different

Very impressive, will be interesting to see prices and final specs. for UK market.
I really don't like the iPad style screen though. Guess it is becoming a standard MB feature know though.

Unlike the previous three generations of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class, the recently-unveiled W205 will no longer sport a set of xenon headlights, not in standard and not even optionally.

Instead, the base model will get Halogen H7 headlights in standard, while the optional headlights will consist of not one but two types of full LED lamps, both of which are technically better than previous xenon HID lamps.

The fun part is that since the technology between the two types of headlamps is different, the headlight design will also be different, with the overall look being changed quite drastically both in the daytime and nighttime.

The following leaked official images were retrieved by the peeps from MB Passion, but we took the liberty of pasting them against each other for a better comparison between the three types of headlights.

According to JesMB the first optional LED headlamp system will cost EUR 1029, while the top of the range LED Intelligent Light System will retail for EUR 1725 in Germany.

just like the facelift E class saloon, estate, coupe and convertible, LED head lights (partial and full Intelligent Light System), new C class no longer has headlamp wash

is it me, or the standard headlamps on the new a,c and e class is absolutely disgusting!

you need to spend the extra on the headlamps/lights upgrade.. they shock me!

otherwise the car is very nice, but in standard guise, they are quite dissapointing

Its you. :)

Fantastic looking car.

I agree, looks like it's got bags under its eyes. This isn't to single out the new C-class though, most cars look much better with upgraded headlamps e.g. Xenon.

I think it looks great and given my progression from 202, to 203 ,to 204, I guess I'm a pretty likely buyer for the 205 model...But given that I drive a 3.5 V6 W204 and hate diesels (yes I know they've come on but they still sound like tractors around town) can I really only opt for a C200 with 156bhp :(

There's always the V8 AMG :thumb:

W203 and W220 share lots of design features.

So do the W202 & W140, and also the W204 with the W221.

All generations do...! no generation has this missed out Boss?
