Hey everyone

Not sure if this has been asked before so apologies if it has. I saw a video on MSL’s YouTube where a standard C63 with downpipes made 520bhp. I was wondering would that cause the CEL light to come on ?
(Some cars it does some it doesn’t and some cars like VW GTi’s run a little spacer between the downpipe and sensor which keeps the light off)

Wouldn’t be a bad mod to run standard Mercedes map but with 520 bhp

Kind regards

Ant

I can't understand why anybody would only change the downpipes? Maybe im missing something 😕

What do you mean buddy ? Only doing downpipes and no map ? Or only downpipes and not full exhaust ?

I know a few people that have gone from downpipes to full exhaust and preferred the car when only downpipes was installed. They can’t answer my question about the CEL as they all mapped the car same day

Only doing downpipes no map doesn't make sence as the cost of stage 3 map gets more power and is the same price give or take (I take it you haven't got the performance exhaust)

I’m still skeptical about remaps 😂

Im the same ref remapping definitely wont be getting mine done andd its quite loud enough for me

I don’t have the performance exhaust, I do have my valve always open though, out all the C63 noises iv heard the most preferable one to me is just downpipe with the standard back boxes, loud when you want and quiet when you want it

1st button I press is exhaust followed by stop start 🤣 as for your original question I wouldn't think it would need mapping out if the downpipes had sports cats but id of thought that it would put EML on if they we're catless downpipes

Mixed answers online was hoping someone from the UK could tell me on their experience. Stop and start 😂 that’s the “I’m mentally ok to drive” button press it and off you go

You could send ACID a DM that would let you know dirrect from the horse's mouth 👍

I did message them via their website asking the price to install their downpipes, (both way cutting the old one out and dropping the gearbox) just waiting for a reply then I was going to ask about the CEL, I might just call them early next week

For the 6.2 E63 the cost of downpipes with cats , remap and dyno is around gbp3400ish
Needs at least 9 hours of labour

Re your original post , are you saying you saw a CEL in the msl video ?

And what a total waste of money imo to gain what in bhp? Put the money towards the LSD MB should of supplied from standard . I very much doubt you'll see an EML at MSL 😳

Hi buddy

No you can’t see the dashboard it’s just a stock W205 C63 with downpipes no map and made 520bhp, then after they mapped it around 630ish bhp

Downpipes are biggest bottlenecks. By removing it, will help the engine breath but will throw an electronic engine light on the dash. Can use spacers (O2 fouler) and a bit of wire wool packed into the fouler. I used Autel to measure the readings and made tiny incremental adjustments by moving the foulers to the appropriate extended position. Took a bit of trial an error. The other option is to have it cancelled out. MSL, PPL or PSL should be able to do that without foulers.

Currently running stock tune, downpipes 3" full straight through with h pipe configuration.
