Hi, I have a 2020 C200 that suddenly has an issue where the horn doesnt work.. I checked the fuse diagram and found no fuse or relay location documented.. I therefore spoke with Mercedes UK who said that this version of the C2000 (sport) doesnt have a fuse for the horn and would need to go to dealer.. obviously I want to avoid that.. I was just wondering if anyone knew how I can check further and hopefully fix this issue. I read something about its in the front SAM?!? but I have no idea where and what this is.. I hope someone can help.
thanks
Craig.

Craig.

Firstly

Welcome.!

Have you checked the wiring to the horn and that there is power and ground?

The vehicle may have 2 or more Sam units. One is usually under the bonnet and may look like a conventional fuse box.

There is often another in the rear luggage compartment often behind a panel.

Are any other functions not working on the steering wheel?
A broken clock spring can cause similar faults.

Hi David, I wouldnt even know how to check the wiring as I assume it's under the bumper? I'm very novice when it comes to cars.. I can change bulbs/fuses,relays etc.

I have no idea what the SAM is, what it looks like and how it will help me diagnose the issue.

I dont see any other issue with the car.. everything else seems fine on the steering wheel, however, I havent even tested other functions must.

I have extended warranty ( I think) do you think this type of thing would be covered? (Arnold Clark UK)

Extended warranties can be a bit of a minefield with the exclusions.

How long have you had the car?

A SAM is a Signal Aquisition Module.

It has electronic "fuses" and "relays", sometimes physical ones as well.

I’d be surprised if a faulty horn wouldn’t be covered on a warranty, but you never know! :)
