hi,

My car has PPLUS with a sunroof. Internally the sunroof has a front and rear section.

Externally, the whole roof is black

Am I right in thinking the whole roof is made of glass and a glass cleaner is the correct thing to use after washing and drying.

Without too much ado, yes just glass and glass cleaner is fine.

It’s all easily reachable (at least in my S205).

Mine probably gets cleaned more often using car shampoo or AG Rapid Detailer than it does with glass cleaner. But glass cleaner would be fine. I'd guess that using screen wash on a soft cloth would be ok too.

Does your glass pano roof rattle/squeak? Mine does on my C250 W205.
I've sprayed the rubber/plastic sealing strips with Halfords silicon rubber lubricant but it had little effect.
I know there are better products but I am loath to try them if there's a more fundermental problem.

No it doesn't rattle or squeak at all.

The only issue with our car (so far) is the glovebox lid which does rattle, though it didn't seem to today. Quite annoying, have not been able to get to the bottom of this one yet. May have to take the glovebox out and have a closer look at it.

no rattle here either. Ive washed down with usual car soap. Once dried, used a glass cleaner

Mine can rattle in very cold weather over bumps. It's OK once it warms up. Presumably the rubbers are contracting in the cold?
For any rubber items you may wish to lubricate...;)... use Gummi Pflege Stift.
You'll find it on Amazon and Ebay and more specialist car sites. (Not Halfords).

Glass cleaner should be fine!

As I'm rather a "Short ****! I find I need a Step Ladder in order to reach and look down on the Roof to see all the missed bits!

trip to dealership I think !!

Mine only does it in very cold weather. I believe it's the rubbers contracting and allowing a bit of movement. Once the car warms up it is fine. As part of the service they do a "Sunroof Service". It's probably just a check over and a lube.

Mine was horrendous, thought it was a rattle but after lubricating every single rubber part I could find it stopped. Did it last summer and as only just started again so will go at it again when I get chance.

we shouldnt have to do that surely , MB should get a fix on this without the owner having to lubricate all parts of the sunroof . My dealership is coming to collect my car and drop off a courtesy car , told them i dont want it back until its sorted properly !

Interested to hear if this was sorted. I only picked my 2017 c220d up 2 weeks ago from main dealer and the pano roof is constantly ‘squeaking’ or rattling (can’t tell which) unless cruising along on a smooth motorway. It has to go back for a continuing battery issue so I will get them to take a look at the roof also, but reading the threads this seems to be down to the rubber parts and nothing mechanical. Would you chaps agree??

after mine had been with dealer for about a week they finally sorted the rattle ! but i reckon it will reappear at some point . seems to be an issue on these coupes and in hindsight should have gone for a hardtop but i love driving the car and it looks great in Hyacinth. Got rid of the black centre wheel caps and popped in some red ones which is almost body colour matching and got a get you home wheel in a bag rather than rely on MB gizmo. also fitted some small splash guards on front arch which are on ebay looks good and not too obstrusive .

lubricating the sunroof is part of the service schedule....
