Hello

I have an S205 on order and have read quite a lot on the US forums about the W/S 205 suffering from excessive wind noise and needing acoustic glass to sort the issue out?

Is this a known problem with European cars and if so does it still affect the new builds - got a build date of September :)

Thanks....

Hello. I have a C350e and I don't notice any wind noise and I would say that my car is very quiet at motorway speeds compared to other cars I have owned.

Hi

My old (2010) S204 suffered from wind noise around the driver's door seal. It was only noticable at motorway speeds and after several visits to the dealer, they sent it to a body shop to get the door realigned.

This got rid of the worst of the noise, only for sum idiot to hit the same door whilst the car was parked outside my house!!

Mentioned the previous noise issue to the repair company so that they could take extra care when fitting a new door. Replacement seemed okay.

My late 2014 S205 (just purchased) seems pretty quiet in this respect but has a bit more tyre noise - probably due to the 19inch run flats - not overly though.

My 2016 mode; S205 is very quiet no wind noise, C220 AMG Line Premier Plus with Airmatic

This is a puzzle for me as well. The US forums report lots of problems with wind noise with the W205. There is nothing like the same number reported in the UK. My Feb 2016 S205 has no noise issues.

The Americans also reported a shed load of problems with the early petrol motors most particularly the wrist pins. Fixing tgis requires an engine rebuild and must be costing MB a fortune in warranty claims.

I have just taken delivery of a new S205 C200 Sport Estate and it definitely has bad wind noise. It appears to be coming from the top of the drivers window and starts to become noticeable at 60mph and gets quite bad at 70. It is as though the window is not totally closed, and appears to be exactly the same as the wind noise reported by multiple W205 C300 owners in the US in 2014 and 2015. I had hoped that the problem had been fixed by now and I believe Mercedes had eventually acknowledged the existence of excessive wind noise and had released a Technical Service Bulletin. My car was built in Bremen in the second half of June 2016 so clearly the problems are not yet over.

Very disappointing, otherwise I am very pleased with the car and particularly enjoy the strong torquey midrange

I've had a few 205's now and my current is a bit blustery around (what sounds like) the rear off side window.

To the new owners - it will get sorted. Mine is getting looked at and I will feedback accordingly.

Try not (and I'm sure it's not) et this taint your opinion of the car. Rightly or wrongly these are mass produced and things happen, it's how these things are overcome that matter.

Have a W205, can't say I've ever noticed it overly much.

Mine was a Dec 2014 build. I've had the wind noise issue (was very apparent near top of driver's window).

MB had it for 2 days to look at it under the service advisory. They put in new door seals which helped reduce some of the noise (although the door needs properly slamming to close). The issue is still there but acceptable to me.

Others have reported that MB will fit acoustic glass to reduce wind noise.

This!
I have the exact same wind noise, anything above 70 is the most noticeable.
My S205 c250d AMG Line Estate was built in Jan 16 in Bremen, no acoustic glass (I not sure if they spec this for UK market).

I was going to mention it to the dealership when it goes in for 1st service, but not sure if the bulletin is valid in all countries... or even if they'll entertain trying to resolve it as reported in the US... one of those things that you can't help not notice once you know about it!

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the dealer if you are going to pursue it :thumb:

When I took delivery of my new C250d AMG Line in March, I was hoping that it would be considerably better on wind noise than my old w204 - sadly not!

As many of you have reported, around 60-70mph starts to sound like the front windows are not quite shut.

I think I will have to book it into the local dealer to have it looked at as its the only fault I have with an otherwise excellent car.

I have a 2015 South African autumn build saloon, took delivery just before Christmas, no issues with the wind noise, unlike the demonstrator I tried.

I assumed they had sorted it now, but seems it still can manifest itself in 2016 Estate German builds?

Mine is November 2015 South African build and have no wind noise issues. Probably the quietest car I have owned.

Cars booked into the local dealership on the 8th, so we will see what they can do to resolve the issue.

I have mine booked in to Swansea for the 8th also, hoping they can rectify the wind noise issue and sort out the boot opening height as it is hit and miss as to how far it opens using the key fob and then usually won't close

noisy for sure

I took delivery of my C350e in the Netherlands in December. Noticed wind noise early on.. mentioned to dealer, they agreed, acoustic windows fitted (under warranty) to solve the problem. Much better..but it remains quite a noisy car (for the money) in my opinion.

Only had my 2016 c300 h a couple of weeks and done around 300 miles upto motorway speeds and not noticed any noise at all, will keep an eye on it.....

I have a c350e Saloon, W205, and now 3 months and 3k miles in can say definitely no wind noise from any windows even at 70 mph in electric mode. Car overall extremely quiet.

Paid more attention to this today(radio off ,fan off etc) and there is indeed a noise like the windows(front) aren't closed properly, doesn't bother me and don't notice it at all with stereo and fan on(speed was around 70 as stated further up thread when most noticeable),if it does bother me will get it looked at when first service is due in January.
