Just bought a C Class 250d AMG Premium Plus.

Demo model with 3k on the clock.

MB Dealer is telling me any service agreement is 15k or 1 year which ever comes sooner.

Since the car was registered 03/2016 this means due to the expected mileage between now and 03/2017 there will be only 7-8k on the clock.

The MB dealership also want me to take out a Service Plan @£35 pm.

Comments please…

John

Hi John. It will be on its birthday irrespective of miles covered. It will cost approximately £200-£250. I would pay for the 1st service yourself then consider taken out a plan after that as you will get the more expensive services included.
Enjoy the car sounds nice, what colour did you opt for. I bought a Brilliant Blue premium plus estate last july and still loving it. The only thing I'm not to happy about is the lack of spare wheel and provision to store one, so its a tin of gunk, a compressor and fingers crossed I never need it.

As above - I bought an 18 month old C250 estate in June, with 11.8k miles, which has therefore had the first A service and will be due the B1 in November. I took out the (3 services) service plan at £35/month, as it will cover the B1, A2 and B3.

If you can get a service plan in place before the car is 1 year old, but after it's first service the cost is less, if I remember, £31/m. Often ex MB/lease cars are serviced at Milton Keynes when returned after 6 months this is possible; I've done it twice.

If you buy the service plan after the first service does it actually make a difference as the money you pay goes into a "pot" and the servicing is taken from that. So if you use it for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th service then you will still be paying the extra needed to equal the plan.

That's my understanding, but I could and probably am wrong, but I don't think the service plan says 36 payments = 3 services?

Ioweddie,

Thanks...

My thinking too.

My wife's car is in Obsidian Black Metallic.

Know what you say about the spare wheel.

I have a1998 320 ML bought from new with 79k on the clock. I have the wheel carrier on the back but only had one flat. Lack of spare is stopping me buying a new SUV but present one is still brill and not a mark on it except for rust near the headlights and the wheel sare flaking.

The last bit is correct. You pay the same amount for 3 services - it doesn't matter which three. It's a bit daft really - for instance MB didn't change the price to reflect that the ATF change moved from 3yrs to 5ys. It's getting the ATF change that probably makes or breaks the value of the plan.

It's worth noting the price goes up a little once the car is over 12 month old though - so paying yourself for the first service then buying a plan to cover the next 3 will cost slightly more than if you'd bought at sub-12 months. You'd have to do the maths to figure out which route makes most sense.

The 3 years = 3 services for my plan equates to paying £35 a month for 3 years and receiving 3 services (B1, A2 and B2). I took the plan out in June, with the next service (B1) due in November 2016. So with the relatively low annual mileage (6 or 7K) I do, the servies will be each November, meaning that I will finish paying the plan in May 2018, with the last service under the plan not done until Nov 2018 (hope that makes sense?).

[FONT=&quot]So when did the A1 Service Happen? Was it 1st Anniversary or 15K?

Can you take out a 3 year Plan after the car's 1st Anniversary?

[FONT=&quot]I have just had a conversation with an ex-MB mechanic.

He states that the C250D engine service interval is 25k is it because it is “new design”- it states this in the "small print" somewhere.

Anybody heard of this?

I'm in the same predicament with my C250d, I don't know whether to take the service care plan out or just pay for the services as and when.
From my conversations with the MB service department they intimated that the service care is like a pot of money whereby the first 2/3 services (depends on your choice) are taken from the pot. If you start your pot late, then you may finish paying for it after your last service has happened.

Reading the small print on the service care T&C's if you want out of the plan at any point you have to pay any outstandings that have been used if the pot if not equal to the number of services, otherwise you can claim back your money minus a £40 admin fee.

I'm not seeing the service care plan as being a discount on servicing although they are trying to say it guarantee's the costs of parts at todays prices, more of a way to pay for servicing, so whether you use it for A1 B1 and A2 or B1 A2 and B2 you'll be paying £35 per month until the servicing bill is equalized.

Well it will all depend how long you are going to keep the car..

The conversation I had with the ex MB service (manger) guy who now runs his own garage included cost for approved 3rd party servicing. He quoted A1 ~ £160 and B1 ~ £280.

The MB Myservice website quotes for my car A1= £320 + B1 = £376

Apparently it is B2 that is the one where the costs rack up i.e. brakes etc.

If you intend to keep the car for 5+ years then may be a 3rd party is the way to go as long as the service book is endorsed.

But would the difference in services charges be reflected in the resale price?

That depends on how you purchased the car, the PCP contracts state that you have to have the car serviced within the Mercedes Benz dealer network otherwise at the end of the agreement there is a charge levied. approx £1000 charge I think.

If you plan on keeping the car beyond the PCP contract then specialist route is good option and cheaper, otherwise your hands are tied to MB dealerships.

You can play around with this website as prices will vary a great deal from one dealer to another. This site will list the 5 nearest dealers and their service costs. https://www.mymercedesservice.co.uk/home
