CLK 320
So after a long search, with a few delays and a few spanners thrown in the financial works for good measure, I have finally bought a CLK convertible.

She's a 2000? (X reg) facelift 320, bit of a compromise on spec, but 320=good, dark metallic blue=good, heated seats=good.

No parktronic, no sat-nav, only one key no hand book and not the sexiest alloys.

However, alloys solved, just bought some nice ones off e-bay, will have a go at fitting after market parking sensors and sat-nav is not so much of a disappointment.

The car was filthy inside and not too good on the exterior either, but after some scrubbing today it looks a lot better. Still a lot to do, carpets need a good shampoo and the Halfords rubber mats don't exactly scream luxury! Hood works fine, but will need a re-colouring when the weather improves and the leather will need some TLC.

Couple of questions:-

1. What type/spec oil does it need and what is the capacity?

2. What should the tyre pressures be?

Thanks in advance for any replies/help.

1) i use shell HX7 10w 40, 6.5 litres

2) table inside the fuel cap

Nice car

And i would not worry about the sat nav, comand 2.0 is so old now, its not worth any premium at all.

Loads of threads on polishing the headlights you might want to look at at some point, and dont forget to lubricate the mono wiper warm, its an expensive replacement.

Also somewhere i have a link or a PDF for the online handbook will try and dig it out.

Thanks for the reply and info Matt, I'll have a closer look under the fuel flap.

Yes polishing the headlight glass is on my very long 'to do' list.

Is there a particular method to lubricating the wiper arm, or is it obvious?

Thanks very much for the link, will do that in the near future.

Now for a stupid question, the auto gear box has a switch marked W and S, I presume the letters stand for sport and winter mode. During normal driving what position should the switch be in?

I run mine mostly in "W" at the moment, unless in a city centre.
W means it pulls away in second, and far less likely to trigger ESP lights etc on wet/slippery roads.

Finished doing a mini service today, just the cabin filter, air filter, oil filter and new oil.

God what a mess, the air and cabin filters didn't look too bad, but the oil filter looked like it might have come from the factory and the 'O' rings were so hard they snapped off, no stretch left in them at all  I'd ordered a new sump plug, just as a precaution and I'm glad I did, the old one was badly mangled and I needed a bolt extractor to get it off.

If there was any doubt in my mind about weather the plugs had been changed, or the transmission fluid, I think this tells me all I need to know.

Really, why doesn't anyone ever service their cars??

The good news is, she now sounds great :)
