my CLK comes with a manual dimming mirror (can't believe it was a standard feature!!).

Does anyone know if it's a straight swap for an auto dimming one. I know it is on a W202 as I did it on my old C36.

Yes it should be straight forward, it should plug in and work without any issues, same as you did on your W202.

You can use from 203,202,210... or any MB that has the same base plate like your mirror.
There's a link to a post in our local forum where i posted some pics while retrofitting mine.

You can use Google translate for the details.
With a few words it's a pain to manage to put the new one in place. Removing the old one is simply pulling it downwards.
Usually people cut the wiring, instead of unplugging it. There are many ways to make it work. Mine doesn't have the homelink buttons which made my effort a hell of a lot easier.
I used only the switched 12V+ (blue cable) and Ground-(brown). The pink one is to switch off the function while in reverse, but i don't like that function.
Then just found myself a plug from an old PC motherboard. It was Sunday and the dealer was closed. You'll have to check for switched 12v pins on inside the dome light (there are a lot of empty plugs in European models), and you are all set.

Hope that helps.

yes its a straight swap (i retrofitted one in my CLK cabrio). the electric plug for it is already there waiting for something to be plugged into it.

make sure you get the correct one (cabrio or coupe) as they are different fitment

Are the bodys of the mirror different colours to match interiors?

Hi,
They are made in three different colours, grey, beige and black, i fitted one in my C230K though my original was black i could,nt find one so i fitted a grey one, doesn,t look out of place one bit.

just fitted one this afternoon. took 30mins, 25mins of which was trying to fit the new mirror back on. forget what a bitch the retaining bolt was to get in!!

Nice upgrade for the £30 it cost me for the mirror.

Are they different mirrors for the coupe & cabriolet?
