Also suprised that with all those extras & it being a 03 reg, it did not come with Sat Nav.

that is rare (208 CLK 55 convertibles are rare), and in that colour scheme, even rarer.

Love it.

Yes it looks stunning, if it is a CLK55 (at the moment there is nothing to suggest it is not) with that colour scheme it could be a one off.

that really is lovely. Retrofit COMAND (easily on a W208) and you are sorted!

I miss my CLK cabrio a lot - they are a superb looking car and with the AMG kit and that colour, it is almost perfect in my eyes. if i were in the market i would be very interested in that. Price needs to drop a little though i reckon.

got the VIN and stuck it into the Russian site:

It is showing as a CLK430. Have asked them for pic of the engine .. we'll soon know whether it is a 55

Also a UK car

But delivery date is 18 Dec 01 .. so what happened between then and registration in 03?

Its nice but its the newer shape CLK55 money? even in convertible trim.

Are the headrests in saftey mode in the picture? look odd..

I remember a year or so ago, we had a similar scenario with another W208 CLK55 AMG Cab, a black one iirc, that also showed up as a CLK430 on the database, i think this down to the fact that the cabs were converted from the V8 CLK430's acting as the base vehicles. That is why everytime one of these rare cars pop up for sale the authenticity seems to be questioned..

Maybe from 01-03 may have been the timespan the car spent getting converted at AMG & then lying around waiting to get sold.

it is an AMG:

Pretty sure that the 208 CLK55 cabriolets do come up as 430s on a VIN search as they were a very special order vehicle (probably a CLK430 cab sent to AMG for conversion).

Absolutely stunning car in almost every respect - and sure is rare enough to create an unusual/high selling price.

However, you're knocking at the door of 209 CLK55 cabs and almost up there with cheap SL55 R230s at that sort of cash - you'd really, really need to want this car (not all that difficult I guess )

Thing is adding miles will plumet its value.

It is nice but I'd rather have the new shape CLK55 and even the SL500 if you don't need the 4 seats. Now that looks a lot more car (value wise)

I reall like that. Pity they don't go round corners. 55 engine in a chassis thats too wobbly.

(the coolant level is low too)

208 55 convertible were special order only, and therefore much rarer than 209 55 convertible or the SL500.

plus unique colour combination

last service was Sep 06!!!

will be perfect complement to my Boxster .. it will be my touring convertible :)

no doubt they cleaned the engine bay

yes, I love this car. And I can easily convince myself that I really want it.

Special order it may be, its still an old model? at top money?

Its also a very limited market for people wanting that shape car in the colour combination. Rare doesn't automatically mean its worth paying for.

I still agree its nice but if you were to use it then on 50K say after a year its realy going to hurt the value.

C240Sport97, go for it! In the end of the day it must be the rarest amg drop top bar none in RHD format.

The likelyhood of finding another in the forseable future is remote , but with that mileage, colour, its a one off.

He may even budge from the asking price, credit crunch & all that!

PS: Future classic status is assured with this one.

yep i agree with you. Go for it, but i'd be looking for a few grand off the price to start with. i'd opt for the 208 shape over the 209 personally as they are all old now so i'd prefer the classic one, rather than the one that wont be a classic (sorry if that offends anyone!!)

the headrests are fine by the way (as far as i can see).... they are just adjusted to their highest point
