Hi guys
Got another problem here with my clk55 2000 reg
There is a split in the rear driver side inner cv gaiter
Phoned the dealer to order a cv gaiter and apparently it comes only with the driveshaft itself which is £600 + VAT
Is there any cheaper option out there and where from please?
Another question is would the driveshaft from clk320 clk430 fit a clk55?
Any advice and suggestion would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Anyone can give a good advise here on this issue?
Thanks

Get a stretch boot and fit it. You need a CV boot stretcher to do the job.

Checked the YouTube and saw one fitting with a cone but have no idea how to pull the drive shaft out to fit the stretch cv boot gaiter

Unbolt it at the diff end and the hub end. You may need to undo some of the suspension arms too.

Thanks for that I'll try it in a few days
I hope I won't need to take the whole hub off to pull it out?
Thanks

Do I need to drain the fluid from the diff?

Or

I may have a pair of CLK55 Drive shafts with boots (dont ask me how).

Let me know. FYI. I paid £600 for the pair from a breaker. I was told they would fit my C55 they don't as the diff splines are different.

I will let them go for a lot less than what I paid as I just want shot now.

Anyone please???? Going to change the rear drive shaft cv boot and do I need to drain the fluid out the diff ?
And any other tips would be very much appreciated
Thanks

Just put a tray under the diff to catch any that comes out but I would think you shouldn't have to empty the diff.

Hi
Thanks again mate
Do u know what's the tool called for the hub but and what size that would be?
Thanks

Its a 30 or 32mm nut. You will need a specific 12 sided socket to undo it. It is very tight. Don't forget to torque it up. You are supposed to replace it every time as it is a locking nut.

Just a thought.

It maybe best you take it to a garage as some of your questions concern me. You could quite easily mess it up.

Would take it to a garage but so far couldn't find a place where they knows about the cv boot stretch )))

They should all know as it's a common job.

Loads of the tools to do it on eBay
