came home last night,this morning everything works apart from key wont crank ,all dash lights work

Maybe worth having a check at the basics first, like fuses and key battery.

A little more information is always useful if you want a good answer.

So:

1 Do you mean the key will not turn in the ignition switch, or

2 The engine will not turn over when you turn the key in the ignition switch.

I suspect the key is turning because the dash lights are coming on.

I'm not sure why it is relevant that you came home last night...but I'm sure your wife (?) is happy.

Ignore the key battery, it has nothing to do with starting the car.
