Please help? Power roof won't go down.
The electric head rest up/dwn switch red ligh flashes and they don't work either. The windows go down as if proceedure is starting the roof just sits not doing anything? Ever heard of this could it be the motor is it a coincidence about the head rest? What should I check I dont have a wiring diag or even know ehere the motor / fuse is?
Thanks in advance for any help/pointers

well the headrests have to be down for the hood to go any further. i would start looking at the headrests, then go from there....

I had a similar problem - it turned out to be the interlock switch that is enabled when the 'hood guard' is in position in the boot. The switch had come loose and wasn't making - as far as the car was concerned the guard wasn't in position and therefore the hood wouldn't go down.

It's worth checking - the switch is accessible on the offside rear section of the sliding rail part of the hood guard.

If the switch isn't made, the windows go down and the red light flashes - just like you described!

Hello,

I have the same problem. Fuses are controlled, head rest is in down possition, contact from the roof guard is OK, boot closed: Button flashes red, windows go down but the roof don't move. Anyone who can help me. Thanks.

I had the same problem today and it was the roof guard switch. Suggest you try it with the roof guard unlocked and see if the sequence is the same - windows go down and roof switch flashes red. If it is then the roof guard switch may be faulty. Check boot lid switch is operating as 'boot open' will give the same fault.

I had a problem with my roof, except it was down & wouldn`t close. As you described the headrest light and the roof switch light flashed.
I had to close it manually and then take it to the dealers.
MB were very helpful. I called in on spec, they took it into their workshop there and then & tried to reset the closing sequence but weren`t able to do anything, so I had book it in to the workshop.
Their diagnosis was to replace the "1-2-4-35 fastener" (£198 + VAT) and the "n/stock switch" (£19 + vat) plus labour, total = £445 - no thanks !
Took the car to an independent specialist (ex MB dealer, I believe who lost MB franchise) and the cost to fix it was £121.61. To quote their invoice
"closure confirmation switch S84/13 not working, this subsequently proved due to a leaking joint in the hydraulic unit. Tightened joint, reset parameters, checked roof operation, all now ok"
So, all due to a leaking joint. Worth a look ?
Hope this is of some help.

Many thanks, I tried what topdown suggested but without success. Is there somebody who can tell me where the 1 2 4 3 5 fastener can be found or the n/stock switch.

I hear a light noise from a contacter when I pull the red flashing button so I think there is a problem with that contactor but where can it be found?

Hi Mine is the same. I put the roof down it would not go back up. just dead, It can be a number of things, Do the obvious. fuses first in the boot or trunk in the USA. next it could be the parcel shelf micro switch as previously stated, "costs €137.00 plus vat in Ireland from Mercedes" could also be your hydraulic pump relay switch, "costs €15.00 euro Mercedes Ireland" go to TOPHYDRAULICS.COM on there site they show a detailed list of all the parts and how to DIY stripdown your boot to gain access. You do not have to buy a relay switch your fuel pump relay switch is the same, its the one in your boot just beside your fuse case. If you remove this your car will not start but you could switch the two relays around, ok you car wont start but you will know if its the relay or not. These are the easy options. You may have to get an INDY garage to hook you up to a diagnostic to get a computer readout to get the codes as to what is wrong. I have so far taken my W208K apart totally and can find no faults so far, no fluid leaks, both micro switches have been checked all around the back seats and back side panels off still cant find anything. I shall keep searching. Of course and other input from others is greatly welcome.
