Hi,

Does anybody know if swapping the PSE pump will require a star machine to program it to the vehicle?

I have purchased a second hand one on ebay and am waiting for it to come.

Looking at the pump, physical replacement is just a mater of pulling the electrical connectors out and unclipping the hoses (labelling them) and connecting to the new.

However, once done, will this render my vehicle unlockable etc.

Thanks...

So long as the part numbers are the same it should be fine, plug and play.

Thanks...

I am slightly concerned I may have the wrong part now.

Looking at my pump (in the car) vs the one I have purchased from a breakers the one in the car has 6 connections, where as the new one only has 4.

The one in my car has 5 of these in use but only 4 out of the 6 on the new one actually have hose connections showing. The other 2 marked MKL and SRU are missing / blanked.

Part of one sourced from breakers: A 210 800 1048 (9)

Part of part in the car currently is A 210 800 1148.

I wonder if they are basically the same pump with just a different housing which maybe the specialist I plan to use will be able to swap over.

You may find the pump inside is the same yes and can be swopped, assuming that's why the pse has packed up.

Thanks...

Think I'll just buy the correct part and re-sell mine on ebay.

BTW, I presume the little grey thing on the top pops out easily enough? Certainly looks although it does.

I don't think they are always plug and play, if you car has orthepaedic seats they may not inflate if the doner car didn't have them. I changed mine like for like but was told it would need enabling through Star for the seats to work, locking was fine though. I got round it temporarily by swapping the fuel cap and seat pipes, meaning the filler was left unlocked.

Well... As the replacement was the same part number no configuration on star was necessary for me.

Since changing the PSE pump my issues have cleared.
