My '03 CLK 320 W209 Coupe seems to have blown a head gasket (Oil in coolant).
Is this a DIY job? If not does anybody know the likely cost of a repair at an indy?

Oh? I hope so, what does that involve?

Hi,
I take we are talking about a 112 V6 Petrol engine?
If so then the oil to water cooler mentioned is the engine oil cooler next to the oil filter housing, their are a couple of rubber seals between the cooler part and the oil filter housing the seals are inexpensive probably take around an hour or so to do, also check for oil leaks at the bottom of the oil filter housing these seals go very hard and brittle and flatten out over time very common issue apparently.

Thanks for that, yes it is a 112 but it gets worse. Temp went through the roof earlier and engine started to sound like a diesel and cut out with a visit workshop message. It started again but sounds like an old GPO van. I think it's probably terminal given the age of the car.

Good advise, thanks! Actually there appeared to be oil in the coolant but no coolant in the oil.
Got stuck into it this morning and found a new oil cooler has been fitted by the previous owner. The gunk in the coolant is, I think, some sort of rad or head gasket seal which the po may have used to sort out the issue that led him to have the cooler replaced. It looks like my thermostat has gone which made it boil and blow all the sealant out. Anyway I have the stat off and a new one on order and I have flushed out the cooling system so fingers crossed that that is all it is.
