Trying to work out, other than the obvious lack of a tin top and two rear doors, what the differences are between a '53 plate CLK 55 Cab and a 2004 '54 C55. An interested party in my car is looking at both, and is trying to compare a pre facelift '53 plate CLK 55 cab on price with a 2004/54 C55.

Just wondered what the differences are under the skin in terms of chassis/ steering/ engine or whether they are mechanically the same. The interiors are quite different - nicer dash architecture, switchgear and better quality on the C55. Any views on values for a 2004 68k mile C55 (fully loaded) vs a 2003 '53 CLK 55 Cab (for arguments sake assume similar miles)...

The CLK55 is not SC'ed

The Chassis of the 203 is much better than the 209 Cab. The CLK55 cab is a bit girly

I would go for my fave. The C55.

I stand corrected. So which W209 AMG had the supercharger? The 63?

From Wiki.

M156 6.2L V8
AMG developed its own V8 engine (dubbed M156 in development) for the DTM series. This naturally aspirated V8 will also be used to replace most of the "55" models. The published output according to Mercedes varies from 457 PS (336 kW; 451 hp) on the C63AMG, to 525 PS (386 kW; 518 hp) on the C/CLK/R/ML/GL/S/SL/CL/E 63 AMG

It produces enough power not to be SC'ed.

*Cough* CLK DTM, including Cabriolet - Matt has one ;) :D

They're S/C'd and don't hang about :)

Good replies, but back on topic, the C55 apparently has a better tuned chassis, and is a totally different beast to the CLK 55 cab (i.e. a bona fide B7 RS4 rival). So values must be slightly higher - rarity at least must count for something!? Biggest problem is that people don't actually seem to know what this car is.
