I'm adding a CarPlay unit to my 2006 CLK. The old Comand is coming out, and I plan to fit a pioneer CarPlay DAB+ unit in its place.
It's my understanding that I can't use anything like a DAB splitter for the factory aerial as it's amplified, so I will need to fit a standard 'stick on' style DAB aerial - I'm fine with that.
My question is about the existing factory FM aerial and using it for the FM function in the aerial - as the COMAND unit will no longer be there, I believe I need to find a remote input to switch on the amplifier in the boot for the aerial so that I can still receive signals if i choose to use the standard tuner in the unit. Is this correct? Can I just use the remote signal wire that will come with the new aerial?
