Hi everyone,

Im having some problems with a 52 plate Clk. A little while back the car was being unlocked with the fob and at the same time the driver side door handle was pulled to open the door. So basically the handle was pulled at the exact same time as the button to unlock the car was pressed on the fob!

Now the door does not lock properly at all. It wont lock with the fob, with the central locking button in the car or if the door pin is pushed down by hand. When tried with the fob the door pin just goes up and down very quickly a number of times but will not lock and always ends up in the open position. And if pushed down by hand it just slowly raises itself again about halfway and stops.

So it just wont lock anymore. Does anyone have any ideas on what is causing this and what needs to be done to resolve it?

Many Thanks

This is the bouncy lock syndrome.. Just do a search.

You need a new lock. Cost around £80 but fiddly to fit so get a mechanic to do it if you are not confident.

Don't think the pulling handle thing caused it.. Just a coincidence.

Ahh the technical term 'Bouncy Lock Syndrome'. No wonder my searches didnt turn up anything! Thats perfect Jay, thanks for the info. Should be able to replace it myself now that i know what the problem actually is!

Yes if you like the idea of drilling your airbag out and removing the window lifter.
