All,

Have seen multiple threads on here for SRS warnings onMercedes cars, I've had my 2006 CLK320 since March and love it to bits.

The day I picked it up - 7 miles down the road the electrics went haywire with errors shown starting with SRS,Brake Fluid levels etc.

Took it back to the indepandant dealership who took a few days to get this fixed via an MB specialist - something to do with a sensor needing to be replaced after a new battery had been fitted.....

16000 miles since then it's happened again starting with:
Little yellow airbag light coming on, display malfunction warning, SRS malfunction warning and then same symptoms as when it first went wrong - that was yesterday :-(

Today I started it up and after 2 mins idling the SRS warning came up and only that - having read threads on here I just looked at the wires under each front seat and touched them - on doing this on the passenger side thewarning and light disappeared !!

Have done 20 miles since and no re-occurance.

Any ideas guys as I need to do quite a long journey on wednesday and cannot risk it failing .........

Git feel is to go the MB dealer first thing but don't want to get stung for this .......any thoughts appreciated as always !!

it sound like the plug or a broken wire under the seat, any independent MB specialists would fix it for not much.

steer clear of main dealers unless you have bags of money and time!

Thanks chaps = have just done another 50 miles and just now had the message come up "Display Malfunction - visit workshop" - no other lights this time but that's how it started yesterday .....

No idea now what's going on as it's not displayed the rest of the alerts from yesterday - don't know of any indies who could look at this at such short notice as I only have two days to get it fixed - might have to be the dealer :-(

their has to be a indie near you it a quick job to hook up a laptop to it a check

All,

Thanks for the comments - have had this looked at by a local independant specialist in Coventry - with fantastic service !!!

BMW and Mercedes Servicing Coventry by Servicing Specialist for Coventry and Warwickshire the BM Merc specialists

Very impressed with their knowledge and honesty and would recommend them totally - diagnosed the problem within minutes and all the red herring messages that seem to get shown in these instances.

Looks like the problem is linked to passenger seatbelt catch and may just be a one off as it seems to be intermittent.

Fault codes have been reset and will watch this space and see how it behaves now.

Thanks for all your help and anyone in the midlands reading this I certainly would recommend this indie and will use them again in the future for sure.
