I just got a 2006 CLK which is in really good condition, so good that I would like to see about fixing the few minor things I've noticed...

1) Somehow the dimpled aluminium interior trim pieces that run along the driver/passenger door panels have both got several marks on them. Anyone know good places to look for replacement aluminium trim pieces? I was thinking of getting a speaker upgrade done, so it would be ideal to get these trim pieces swapped out while the door panels are off for the new speaker install.

2) The climate control panel is looking at bit worn, nothing major but if I can find an immaculate replacement then I'd think about it. I have the climate control with the two rotary dials for the left/right temperatures. Does anyone know if the more fancy looking climate control unit with the up/down arrows and the digital temp displays can be swapped in place of mine? Or does that require other equipment which my car won't have?

Thanks for any suggestions,

Charlie

Thanks Codger, that was very useful. Only found the luxury unit on ebay in the US so far, plenty of the normal units around though.

My only concern with the luxury unit was people mentioning it causing error codes because it couldn't find the missing motors it expects to find in a properly specced car. Are these error codes anything to worry about? If I get them cleared are they going to keep coming up?

BTW, do you have to go to a dealer for clearing that sort of thing or can anywhere else do it?
