W209 Driver's seat release catch

Evening all,
Since I got my W209 the driver's seat release handle has sometimes need to be pulled a couple of times to get the catch to release, however it has now stopped working completely
I assume that the catches are cable operated and could do with some lubricating or adjusting but how do I now get at them? Do I need to remove the seat back, and if so, how?
Anyone experienced this problem and able to advise? I have done a search but everything I've found on t'internet seems to relate to other models.

Think its going to be a case of trial an error, theres 2 cables I believe that run down through the back of the seat to the catch mech in the base. Thats about all I know.

I have to push the top of seat back whilst pulling on the release, it clicks & releases. Try that

I agree with Litcan91 thats is exactly what I have to do on the wifes W209 convertable.
