CLK
Hi -
I've had my CLK 350 layed up for a couple of months and when I tried to start her up the battery was dead - after charging the car starts ok, but the instrument cluster is completely dark (everything was working fine when she was parked up).
I've checked fuses and all are sound with no other electronics failing.
I'm aware that sometimes these clusters need to be fixed by specialist auto-electronic engineers (specialist tools) to 're-wet' the solder junctions and such - but what I'm really wondering is would the poor battery cause this complete cluster failure ?
I've removed the cluster, checked the connector (which reads live 12v across appropriate pins) , and re-seated it - still dead.
Any suggestions that I've not tested so far ? ... other than a new battery.

How likely is it that a new battery will fix this ? Or do I just send it off to one of the companies that fix these clusters and pay the £180-£300 ?

John.

Send it off for repair. Its a common issue.
