Perhaps a more technically aware member could advise me:

Car is a 2006 W209 coupe, newly acquired. Wife is complaining that the passenger seat (Manual, only driver side is electric) is too low.

I see the seat runners are fastened to the floor with 4x M10x28 bolts. Can I get a height increase by simply placing 9.5mm spacers between the runners and the floor, then using 40mm bolts? Or have I missed some safety issue here?

I know I would have to check clearance to the headlining when moving the seatback forwards.

PS Does anyone know the seat bolt torque setting?

35NM IIRC

I seems ok in practice but the set is there and bolted in that position for a reason. I would use high tensile bolts if you are going to do it. Less chance of shearing in an impact.

Thanks for replying BlackC55.

I will check under the runners for any location aids that may be present to augment the bolts and abandon the idea if there are. I think 4x 10mm hi-tensile bolts would be sufficient as my wife only weighs just over 7 stone, but am aware there would be more inertia from raising the runners.

Its something I would revert to standard anyway before passing the car on.
