Hi All

Some help please just bought a clk350, having error code for the secondary air pump, have so far changed the pump, checked the fuse and changed the relay, but still getting the error code.
I erase the memory and after about 50-60 miles the engine management light comes back on, any ideas all?

Thanks

Mo

changing the pump and relay should fix it, was it a new pump?

was a used on but was refurbished and has warranty, was fully tested by garage before fitting

worth a check, but its pretty straightforward.

air injection pumps can seem like they are working but still cause EML.

mine was working fine but caused EML to go on, after replacing relay it worked well for another couple of years then EML again, with a new unit all fine.

There is more to the system than the pump.
There are vacuum operated valves that route the air to the exhaust manifolds.
So you could have duff valves or the vacuum switches or perished pipes.
There is info on youtube that shows how the system works.

Thanks, il have a look on YouTube, its booked in with my indy to get it checked anyway

Mine turned out to be a loose wire in the connector...

well just had it checked, the replacement pump I bought has failed, need to get another on, that should solve the issue

fitted the new pump and relay, cleared codes and light has come back on, anyone got any ideas or links i could look into, not found a great deal to work out the problem

get it to a specialist with STAR and get the codes read properly.

where in Essex are you?

It's a common problem

Disconnect the plug connected at the front Sam and you will see that the terminal is melting where it connects to the Sam unit

i had it checked at gem tech in essex and was a pump they said, i've moved to nottingham now

No it's the power cable outlet at the front Sam to the pump

4 or 5 pin plug with high amp cables

It's a very simple system and a basic check to carry out

probably being dumb now, what do you mean by sam?
il check it tmrw

Open the hood
It's the fuse box drivers side under the hood

Good luck I'm sure this will be you're issue

thanks, il have a look and keep you updated
