Hi

My door plates/finger plates (not sure what they are called) are rusty and look horrible. I've touched them up over the last year or so but it looks naff. The rest of the car is in really good condition and these plates really let it down.. as its the first thing you see when getting into the car..

Any way, where can I get new plates? ebay? Any one on here? Can I fit my self, I noticed some screws on the inside of the plates, do I undo these and the plates slide off?

Best regards

S

I bought one new one (driver door) for my car it cost around £60 iirc so they are expensive things to replace

Removal isnt hard , as you say the screws need to be removed and the bottom trim to allow them to come off it just takes patience , i took one side off at a time and sanded and then sprayed them with satin black plasticote paint , it lasted ok but needed a quick do over once a year to keep looking A1, once you have done the donkey work of sanding off the original platisc finish you dont need to remove them each time just mask up the area to be sprayed

O.K. I'll give that ago. Thanks

Re removing the bottom trim. Do you mean the seal that runs along the length of the window? How do you remove that?

I changed mine recently. I found it also helped a lot to have the window down, as the edge of the trim hooks into the inside of the door frame for a secure fit.

I replaced my 'Classic' trims with 'Sport' (carbon fibre) ones just to give a different look - sourced from mercman for about £60 the set. I believe they are officially called Ornamental Covers if that helps. Try searching the web if you want to go down the replacement route without paying dealer prices. And the Russian site will help you identify the part numbers.

Good luck.
