I read that I can buy an up to date map CD for my Comand [still has original 1999 CD] - can anyone advise if there are any firmware upgrades that ought to be carried out too? If so how do I check current version, and do I have to go to a dealer to do it?

You should be able to apply the MY01 firmware update easily enough yourself. You can get it Here

As a 2002 W203 owner, how do I find out if I've got the latest firmware ?
