So, whenever i start my W210 i always wait for the glow plug light to go off, standard, but then after the engine starts it comes on again for maybe 2 or so minutes...

does this mean i need to do some replacing?

Thanks people.

Yep, looks like you'll be getting the spanners our - or credit card - soon.

When a glow plug fails the light should stay on for 30 seconds after starting IIRC.

One or more of your glowplugs has failed, best to replace all of them at the same time.

What does it mean when the glow plug light goes off when ignition is switched on, but comes back on when the engine is started?

When mine first did this last week, it would sometimes go out after restarting, but now stays on all the time.

I have looked at the relay, expecting to find an 80A fuse, but there does not appear to be one.

I will get a multimeter and test the glow plugs, but always thought that with faulty glow plugs, the light goes out after a few minutes.

Also, it looks as if I need to remove some fuel lines to get at the glow plugs for cylinders 1 and 4. Is this true? Or is it possible to get them out without removing the lines. I would prefer not to disturb them if possible, otherwise they may not seal properly afterwards. The car is a 2002 c220cdi estate.

it is a faulty glow plug causing this - almost guaranteed. Best to change the diesel lines as well whilst you are there; they are not too expensive.

is there any 1 who can help me plzz

I think if you open your own post/ topic with your own questions you might get better chance to get a response.
All the best.
