Now have my E320 cdi
can someone tell me does the amg w210 have wider arches than a standard w210 ?:thumb:

All W210 arches get smaller by age...

... Due to the rust :D

The only difference on the E55 arches is that they are factory rolled (lipped) to accomodate the big wheels and the lowered suspension.

right i know where i have gone wrong now. i got some wheels that i though had come off a w210 amg, but it turns out to be a e36 w210. so the wheels will fit ok on my car. i was just abit concerned about the tyre sizes.

standerd 16" 7.5 j ET 41 all round on car now. tyre size 215/55/16.

changing to

AMG II 18" 8 j ET 31 all round, no tyres yet, been recommended 235/40/18 from lads on our site.

someone told me today, if there is a issue with rubbing using 235/40/18, i could try using 225 instead.

any views ?

Don't know about the tyre sizes but E36 AMG wheels are the same as E55 AMG wheels.

back to square 1 then . have been recommended 235/40/18 from some lads from the site, but i beleave i will get rubbing using that size, because the e55 or e36 have the arch lip rolled.
would there be a issue fitting 225/40 for the new wheels ?

Get them on and see, it may not rub unless your car is lowered in which case get the inner arch lip rolled - it's a simple process for a good garage.

225/40 front will be fine but you could put 235s at the rear if you like

The E55 used a staggered setup and the E36 used 18x8 et31 all round.
Both the E55 and E36 had rolled lips from the factory.

You should be fine with 235s all round but if you do get any rubbing then have the lips rolled as per AMGs. You could put on that spare 235 tyre and try it out.
They'll look great when they're on :thumb:

Janner:Goot to see you`re still about :thumb: how`s your beast going?

Hi, Been busy the last few months but I do look in occasionally.
The car's going well. Always a big list of things to do. Might try to get some of it sorted now it's back in the garage for the winter.

hi janner
Still chuffed with the wheels and i carnt wait to get them on my car still, iv been getting a bit mixed up with standard and amg arches on the w210. the spare wheel i got from you was a 225.

il get some pics on when there on janner.

You can get your arches rolled you know.

yes renault12ts im aware you can get the arches rolled, but im trying to avoid that by getting suitible tyres to begin with, i could fit 235 which has been recommended, tho i could get rubbing"possibly". could get 225 fitted and might not get rubbing. trial and error i guess

In that case stick to 225s. They'll look identical to the 235s when fitted but you'll get less chance of rubbing. If 225s give enough traction for an E36 then they'll be fine on yours.

The AMG 18-in monoblock as fitted to E55 AMG and other AMG bodied models
with rolled arches and low suspension :-
Front 8Jx18 H2 et 31 tyre 235/40ZR18
Rear 9Jx18 H2 et 35 tyre 265/35ZR18

N.B. these are the largest tyres that will fit inside the front arches without rubbing.

N.B. a front 245/40ZR18 will rub even rolled rim arches on the 210 over bumps and wallows and tight cornering (as I found out the hard way).

The 210 AMG body modifications models do have very low ride height. Vehicles without rolled arches may have higher ride height even with Sports/Av suspension.

Spare on E55 AMG listed as for front i.e. 8Jx18 H2 et 31 tyre 235/40ZR18
But spare on my S210 is 7½Jx16 H2 et 41 tyre 215/55R16-93W as listed for spare on 17-in and 18-in equipped models.

The Winter Wheel on the E55 AMG is listed as 7½Jx17 H2 et 35 with 235/45ZR17 all round.
The non-AMG bodied E320 and E430 list largest wheel as 8Jx18 H2 et 31 tyre 235/40ZR18 all round, i.e. the rolled rims are only needed with the factory lowered suspension that comes with the full AMG body kits.
