W210 boot lock stopped working.

W210 boot could be opened as normal by pushing the button where you put the key on the boot lid.

Took out the mechanism to swap in a new boot lid, and reinstalled the boot lock mechanism into the new boot lid.

When I reinstalled the boot lock mechanism it now will not open by pushing the button where you insert the key. It will open by using the button inside the car in the center console ok.

Is there any way of opening the mechanism to see why the button is not operating it. Everything is connected as normal it seems and it does open as normal using the center console button.

Can you remember the orientation of the key slot (horizontal or vertical)? It may be that you have now 'locked' it

No its still vertical.

Had another w210 where the push button wouldn't work, but the button inside the car would

Thought there might have been a simple fix
