Today's curiosity is EC is stick on. Will not switch off other than if Demist is selected.

Problem or a feature of the thermatronic vs outside temp?

Cheers

Just to be clear...is the red light on? If yes...then as above needs gassing (probably).

Red light on.

Bugger hope its not leaking, although why else would it need gassing

Was hoping that it was a feature when it gets cold!

It will either have a sensor fault or it's out of gas.

Most leak from the condensers.

Needs to be plugged in to find the cause.

No, that was the evaporator. The condenser is in front of the radiator.

Does not sound so scary now! Thank you.

I guess given the time of year I'll wait for it's service and get the codes read then... Although the extra red light is bugging me.

The longer you leave it the higher the possibility of the compressor seizing.

Lack of gas and lack of the compressor clutch engaging for a time can cause them to seize up.

Thank you again. In that case I'll move faster.

Just need a trip down south or Northwest in that case. It'l happen in the next 2 weeks no doubt.

I'm not keen on Doncaster Indies at present.

I meant for the codes to be read. Finding the leak first is a good plan!

My alternative is to get it topped up and leak tested first in Doncaster that is going to cost £30. I'm tempted to do this at this cost as if I get it locally plugged in it's going to cost more than that in the first place.

Vacuum or use another gas and UV dye.

OK. Final question for the night. A quick google shows after-market replacements. Worth the money for an MB or is an after-market as good?

Very much depends on the make. Eis, valeo are pretty good. The gen parts have a 2 year warranty. The non gen only one year.
