w210 door mirror cover removal

Hi all,
I want to replace the electrical innards from my W210 n/s door mirror as they have packed up on me .
I have sourced a second hand complete mirror unit, but of course its the wrong colour. I understand that the whole cover comes off and I can swop my own cover onto the new mirror unit, but cannot see how to do it.
I can find no threads on this site to give me guidence, so has any one here had to do a similar job that could offer me some advice

Close the mirror against the car door then look in by the hinge and you will see either a metal spring wire or a metal clip holding the cover onto the frame.

thankyou, I can see a metal clip, so pop that out and all will be revealed? or come off anyway..
