W210 E220 cdi Elegance
Hi guys. I've been lurking for a while and I must apologise for going straight in with a help post!!
I'm after some technical advice.
Been having a starting issue with my e220 cdi. If the car is parked facing up hill overnight then it normally takes ages of continuous cranking to get it to start. Parked facing downhill it's fine.
Did some digging on the tin-ter-webs and it would appear the fuel is draining back to the tank as there's air getting in somewhere. This only started happening after changing the fuel filter.
I had also read that this could be due to leaking pipes or O'rings?
Or does anyone have any other suggestions?
Could someone perhaps clarify which pipes and or O'rings this could be?
Any help greatly appreciated as it's getting on my nips now!!

Paul.

Been searching through old posts on here but I'm still not sure which pipes to order. Can anyone shed any light on this?
Also keep reading about o rings. Are these on the injectors themselves?
Any help would be most appreciated.

The O rings are on the ends of the fuel lines and HP fuel pump.

On the 320 the fuel lines are clear pipes, not sure what they look like on a 220

Thanks Bob. I'll see if I can find some part numbers for the lines as knowing my luck the buggers will be brittle and snap!!

If you give me your vin or reg I can have a look for you

I assume it's all the plastic fuel piping around the front of the engine I need.
Again many thanks.

Bob I honestly can't thank you enough mate. Really appreciate it.
I'll let you know if this cures the problem.

bob6600 I was hoping to pick your brain again mate! Sorry to be a pain!
I was doing some further digging through the forum and Google and found a few people mention the fuel filter housing having seal that can fail and draw in air. Since this problem only started after changing the filter I thought it might warrant further investigation?
Also are the fuel line O-rings 10x3 mm?
Again any help is hugely appreciated.

Again huge thanks Bob.
