W210 E300 - Manual trans...

OM606 W124 Saloon.
Just pondering what sort of manual trans are viable to fit in the W210 mating upto the OM606 without many issues.


My first thought would be a W202 C250 5 speed manual, as its the same engine it with a cyl knocked off it has to bolt up one end right?

Don't so much googling on this and cant find a lot of information

Whats the C250's gearbox code?
 
I would go for something a bit stronger, the 300TD will shred a 250 gearbox, or do you mean an atmo 300?
 
I've got a Getrag manual 717.450 from a W201 Cossie behind a 300TD and it's good. What flywheel/clutch would you use and what about the different front propshaft sizes?

Tbh I didn't realise how much they pulled like a train today, I done an airport run, really the only motorway driving since I bought it, and totally peed of a audi turbo petrol and a little starlet turbo (that had no chance in hell!)

What is an atmo 300??

Is that the 5 speed? Not really upto date on my Mercedes boxes if im honest. Im in no position to attempt to do this myself. Don't get me wrong I can do certain things, like my old 940 diesel with the Bosche VE pump strapped to the VW 6 cyl turbodiesel, modded the pump a bit and made it go like a rocket. But im no means a mechanic.

Who the hell would you even get to do this conversion anyway. Obviousely a performance company that do fabrication work as well?!??!


Is yours the OM606 in a w210 chasis?
 
Don't bother doing anything, just run it as an auto, it suits the engine and car.

I had a mental block it was you...of course your car is a 300TD. An atmo(spheric) is a no-turbo engine, used up to 1996.
 
Get another, they are normally long lived and it would be quite a job to convert the car.

Yes it's the 5speed but 5th is direct so a different diff is also required.

Yes it's an OM606 but in a 107 chassis, so not relevant to your needs; just to say that it can be done 'if needs must'
