Hey guys got a few questions that i hope you will answer to ease my mind because i have got differernt answers from each garage i have asked . sorry if they have been asked before .

1. I have changed all six injectors on my car for recon ones and since then i have lost about 10 mpg. Do the injectors have to be recalibrated to the ecu? Some people say you do and some get quite aggressive when you ask them and they say it is utter rubbish and only the w211 engines need this.

2. Can you only use auto fluid from mercedes? does it really contain some magic additive that if you use any other makes fluid the gearbox will pack up after a few miles?

3. The mpg that has gone down since changing the injectors would this be because the old ones were not working correctly and thus using less fuel? I have tons more power with the new injectors and not as much black smoke when you boot it on motorway .

My car is a 2001 w210 e320 c.d.i and it has a tiptronic gearbox .

With the old injectors i got 40 mpg plus at 70mph . With the new ones i get at most 33mpg. The other day i got 38mpg at 65 mph due to heavy traffic on motorway . But i dont know whether this is because the weather is a lot warmer now ?

Hope you can help

i have had injectors replaced on my car which is identicle to yours but i never heard about them being matched to the ecu.as far as i know you just replace them and thats it.you can check if they are performing properly on a star diagnostic machine.as far as the gearbox oil question this is something i would love to know the answer to aswell.when i bought my car 8 months ago the first thing i did was to get the gearbox serviced.£80 from merc indy and that included the flush.but the merc indy i use now charges £150 and he cant understand how the other indy only charged £80.he says the oil is really expensive and you couldnt possibly do it for that price.i can say that with my last car e300 td that i paid £150 to service the gearbox with another merc indy and that was over 4 years ago.so now im wondering if my gearbox has been serviced with the proper oil.

the gearbox fluid is a mysterious thing. i had it serviced by mercedes main dealer when i first got the car and they charged me 150£ for a sump gasket, filter, drain plug and the oil . ive done the last couple of gearbox fluid changes myself but used mercedes supplied fluid and they charged me 10£ a litre. Ive looked in halfords for some but in their help books it doesnt state my model and says go to main dealer:eek:

come on guys bring on the answers!:D 2 people need help now

re the mpg there is something wrong with the injectors or the installation. MPG should improve with new injectors not get worse.
re the ATF you need Dexron III ATF such as Mobil - available at motor factors. Some claim the MB fluid is special in some way - personally I think it is std fluid. I have used Mobil Dexron II (in the older w124) and Dexron III for years now and have not had any problems. My 200k+ mile w124 shifts much the same as when it was new and that has had non MB fluid for about 100k miles.

I fitted them and I was worried as they were very very noisey and still smokesd. I have done a few thousand miles now and the are now very quite and very reduced black smoke and fuel consumption improved. As far as the oil goes , all oil will have its spec written on the side, all you need to do is match it . I would go to a car part factor where it would be cheaper anyway and take the container you bought from merc and ask the chap to match the spec. As far as i am concerned I am not that much of a Brand man, as long as it's specification matches or exceeds it its good. Anyway Thats my opinion of courses.]

can injectors from the e300td 210 be checked on star ?

yes im pretty sure they can unless someone else can tell me im wrong?

star

Thats Interesting, There are no electrical sockets on mine! .

no thats right the 300 diesel is mechanical injection isnt it ? where the cdi's have electronic solenoids on the injectors, where on the 300 the mechanical fuel pump does every thing. So i doubt if plugging star into a 300 diesel would tell you anything only the engine speed or something i dont know, any one?

anyway i dont care about 300's:D i want to know about the injectors on the 320 c.d.i and the gearbox fluid!

Hi,
I personally will only use Genuine MB fluid on the AMG as a G/B oil and filter change is something you only do every 40,000 miles or so, and considering the expense of a new G/B £3000+fitting, i don,t see the additional expense of using MB ATF every 40,000 miles a problem and i consider it to be a small price to pay for piece of mind.

injectors have to be coded in yes or no?

I've been using dexron III GB oil from halfords for years and never had a problem (C220cdi).
I also run a Honda Pan european 1100, any bike shop will tell you never ever use car oil in the engine, well, Texaco Havoline 10w/40 has kept it going for well over a hundred thousand miles now and I have a friend whos 1300 Pan european has done double that on the same oil. Its the Grade and specification that matter. (and appropriate oil and filter changes)
I could be wrong but I dont think MB are in the oil industry, so it would appear..to me at least, that someone else provides the oil and they stick their name on it, treble the price and sell it to us.

No, standard automatic. I dont see what difference the oil would make. Tiptronic simply allows you to choose when to change gear, I believe this is done electronicaly.
