Hi I have a E320cdi Est and the front suspensions started clonking and making a lot of noise generally. Could anyone advise me of what to do about this?

Also the glow plugs need doing- are there any particular brand that work well?

Many thanks

Jon

Check:

Anti roll bar (ARB) bushes.
ARB drop links.
Lower ball joints.
Track rod ends.
Inner bushes of top and bottom suspension arms.

Thanks for this- can the bushes be replaced alone or do I need to buy the suspension parts too? What would I order say from German and Swedish? Anyone got any part nos?

My garage has checked all the bushes etc and found no problem. Any other ideas as to the source of the noise?!

It seems to be the N/S/F mostly......

It could be a broken spring. They can crack near the end of the coil inside the support cup and can be easily missed unless you're specifically looking for it.

Check tightness of bolt that secures bottom of shock to lower suspension arm.

If this has become slack for any period of time, the holes in the vertical lugs will have worn oval, and the sound travels up the spring to the body.

This is exactly what it was! Now I just have "squeaks" as i go over a speed hump with no rattles.

Much better- thank you!
