1997 Mercedes-Benz E Class W210 E320 Avantgarde saloon in Dark Blue

For sale is my Father's W210 E320 (petrol), which he has loved and cherished for many years. You'd have had to pry this from his cold, dead hands until recently BUT, he had an opportunity to step into his dream car, therefore this car is now for sale as it is no longer used. Mileage has not long touched 150,000 and will not increase by much at all.

The car is painted in Dark Blue, code 332 believe. It has the 3.2L V6 petrol engine and is of course an automatic. The car is an early example of the W210, 1997 and is therefore now 20yrs old however, it is mechanically very solid and performs as it did many years ago, spritely in fact. All gears engage, changes are smooth and the engine pulls along quietly, strongly and without rattles or knocks.

The car has just been put through a fresh MOT, which it passed with no problem, and this expires Jan 2018. Road tax of course is now a different ball game but, it is taxed and insured ready for any test drives. It has been fully serviced at Mercedes or specialists every year since new, and due to age of the car the service book is full up! My Father, a main dealer Mercedes/AMG mechanic of over 40yrs then serviced it himself at his own workplace until last year when he retired. The next service is not due until Summer 2017, and this will be an oil service.

Brakes, discs and pads all round were changed in 2016 and apply without issue; the car stops very well.
Tyres were replaced in 2016 and therefore are still in good condition.

The car was factory fitted with the Avantgarde styling kit and also genuine 18" AMG Monoblock wheels, finished in silver. It is very well equipped, and options include:

AMG Monoblock wheels
Avantgarde styling
Heated front seats
Heated rear seats
Anti-glare wing mirror glass (gold)
Electrically adjustable driver's seat with memory
Electric steering wheel adjustment
Grey full leather interior
Dark wood trim
Electric mirrors
Electric windows all round
Grey headlining
Remote central locking
CD player
ABS
SRS airbags
ESP/TCS/ASR
Air Conditioning
Cruise Control
Cruise Speed Limiter
Dual Zone Climate Control
Remote Central Locking

Now, for the price you will expect some issues and if you're looking at this, then you probably know a little about the W210 and its associated issue, rust. Regretfully this car is no exception to the rule and has corrosion on all four arches. I'll be honest and say that the front arches will need replacing but the rears may need a shave only. There are a couple of very small spots on bonnet and bootlid, but otherwise the car is solid and no mechanical or structural parts have degraded in this way. There are a couple of dings in the body work which can be pulled, alloy wheels are solid, uncracked but do have some curb rash and the NSR window lifter needs replacing. The stereo works perfectly ok but, the digital screen has bled.

Last year the car's ignition switch failed. This was replaced at a cost of £800. This included a new switch, a new key and programming. Very expensive but, all sorted I suppose and has been faultless ever since as before.

There isn't much else to say really. I'm fully expectant that this car will be purchased to be used as spare parts, despite being very good still but, that's no problem. I will however not be breaking this car and selling parts individually so, if you want the wheels for example, you'll have to buy the whole car and take it away complete, then dismantle on your own property.

Viewing recommended before purchase, in fact I would insist on it to make sure that you are happy with the car. Viewings welcome with prior arrangement in the Gatwick area, West Sussex.

Car sold as seen with no warranty implied, expressed or given. This is a private sale.

Price: £800

The other option that I am looking at is to fit some non-AMG W210 wheels to the car and selling the car whole, for cheap. I will then look to sell on the AMG wheels separately (which is where I see the main value...aside from some nice options, which could be cannibalized from the main car if anyone was wishing to take it whole).
