What problems are you actually having with the acceleration? If you give us some details, somebody might be able to help.

This is whats going on every time i would replace a part of it like for example a fuel filter and a Fuel Pump it would run great for a week then turns into a grandpa so when i floor it it barely moves.... then i would replace a Maf Sensor same thing does great for a week then suddenly starts doing the same...... then it was iridium plugs and new spark plug wires then coils then vacuum tubes ect and still the problem persist im at a loss right now.........

it feels like everytime i disconnect the battery in the car it runs like wow... then a week later feels slower then a honda civic dont get me wrong i love the car and all and dont want to sell it...... but for god sake how much money do i need to spend on it so it runs normally like it feels like it wants to go when i floor it but only goes when it reaches 4k RPMs..... from 1-4k when i floor it lightly it feels fine as soon as i put it to the floor feels like something is holding it back untill it reaches higher RPM range..... then it pulls away i dont usually speed on the car its a big V8 but sometimes i drive along somewhere and want to pass another vehicle and floor the car all i get is hesitation like it wants to go but then it changes its mind 20 million times wtf ?

No obvious common feature there. If I were you, I would take it (when it's not running properly, obviously) to a Mercedes dealer, or an independent Mercedes specialist, with a STAR diagnostic machine and get the fault codes read.

but the thing is there are no fault codes of any kind at all !

^ Did you attempt to read the fault codes with STAR diagnosis equipment whilst the car was running poorly?
If not, what is your location so someone may be able to suggest a good Mercedes independant mechanic to trace the fault.

As Olly of PCS has said so many times, Star faults are only part of the story. Live data will also tell you a lot and this needs someone with experience to analyse properly. Find an MB specialist who knows what he's doing.

Hi There,

I have been having the same issues for over 2 years now and I would love to know what the outcome was for you. I am close to selling the car as I have spent lots of money and the car still runs like a slug.

My mercedes mechanic said he has never come across something like this before and he is just as confused/intrigued as I am *He has been an AMG tech for over 30 years*.

Thanks,
Steven - Adelaide Australia

Similar problems to what this thread describes. I’ve changed almost every part so far that’s listed and the car still performs poorly.

After a battery reset the car at any throttle level pulls hard and very sharp. After 500-1000km’s of driving the car becomes sluggish and the gearbox doesn’t know what it wants to do. If you give 95% throttle the car hesitates for up to 5 seconds then shifts down and pulls but with very little power. Other times it will downshift and pull very slowly until it gets to about 5000rpm then the car will surge as if there was turbo lag but it’s a NA v8.

I can’t attach a dash camera video of the car surging for evidence. I had the throttle down 95% (up to the kick down but not depressing it) and the car accelerates very slowly then out of nowhere all the power hits you and it bounces off the rev limiter.
I can provide the video through drop box or Facebook messenger.

The car symptoms I’m experiencing are almost identical to what’s described above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steven

Had a similar thing on our Clk 320 (W208). Turned out to be a combination of the throttle position switch ( the switch, potentiometer by the accelerator pedal as the correct name eludes me at the moment) and a duffish battery.
As already said, better spend some money on a proper diagnosis and less on guess work.

I’ve also taken a video of my dash when giving 100% throttle from 40kmh up to 110kmh when the car is running poorly and then again right after a battery reset as a direct comparison.

Happy to send these videos as well as I’m sure it will amaze you and puzzle you at the same time.

No fault codes, we’ve thrown almost everything at this car except a TPS at this stage. I’ll replace that within the next month. Interesting about the battery as well I’ve never considered it but it might be linked too.

I’ll keep everyone posted
