The tyres fitted to my 18" AMG rims are; Front 245x40 / Rear 275x35
This is a difference of 11.25% (75.5mm diameter difference (230.91mm circumference difference)).

I know they are meant to be fatter on the back, but the difference to me seems to be quite a lot!

Any comments?

There is only 1.75 mm difference in the radius (3.5mm diameter). So, very small.

The tyre walls are: 245 X 40% = 98mm, and 275 x 35% = 96.25mm, (less than 2% difference).

As you can see from what I've shown, the aspect ratio is the relationship between tyre width and tyre depth and is expressed as a percentage of the tyre width.

They aren't the recommended sizes. The sizes should be 235/40 & 265/35. But yours aren't too much different though.

Thanks - I didn't know they weren't the right size. Maybe if there's a big price difference then I might go for the smaller ones and get better quality for the same money as the larger ones.

So, with these larger tyres, will there be any difference to handling / acceleration / economy? And I assume they're fine on the rims?

Acceleration will be slower, economy will be greater. But I doubt you'll notice it.

Common tyre sizes tend to be cheaper. Whichever fitment sells in greatest quantities will be most reasonably priced.

So many MBs and other cars come with 245/40/17 and especially the 225/45/17 fitments, they're not bad value - mine is one of the few AMGs that benefit!!

Even if you were to stick to the sizes you have you wouldn't be able to notice any changes to handling, acceleration or economy compared to the standard size.
