Just wondered if it's physically possible to fit a set of 15" steels off my W126 on my newly acquired E55 estate while the alloys get sent for a much needed refurb. Would they clear the front brakes? It's either that or on axle stands.

    I don't think even 16s would fit.

Iirc the front discs are 334mm diameter, which is a little over 13 inches. Factor in a little more for the calipers and I can't see the inside of a 15 inch wheel going over them.

    Thanks.

It looks like axle stands it is then.

SWMBO won't be too impressed. She wasn't too happy when she found out the "new" car is older than the car it is replacing. AMG or not, it's an old heap.

If you are lucky, Rimfurbish in West Bromwich might have a ready-refurbished or swap-out set of wheels. LINK.
The quality of their work is pretty much peerless.

Just checked the Rimfurbish website and unfortunately they haven't got any of my type ready done to swap. I need to get them done pretty soon as the previous owners told me they lose air - slowly. We'll see
