On the way home tonight and did a bit of spritely acceleration only for the car to die completely and come up with EPC fault visit workshop. Turned it off and on again and it seems ok again now but the faults still showing. Any suggestions?

Air in the fuel system commonly brings this up.

Check fuel line's O rings (Change)
Check clear fuel lines to see if they are discoloured and brittle (Change if O rings don't solve)
Check leak off pipes for a leak

So basically check all the fuel lines, including to and from HP pump

Thanks, could well be that as it has been difficult to start sometimes. Replaced one of the pipes already when it broke while changing the thermostat! I'll order the others.

Hard to start from cold, that's air ingress as above.

A partially blocked fuel filter or a failing TPS can flag up the EPC light. As can low rail pressure.

First thing to do - fit new fuel filter.

What is happening is the engine has a huge amount of air and fuel delivered when you floor the pedal and it cant cope with so much air vs fuel, so shuts off. Also, the starting difficulty is air in fuel symptom.

A common diagnosis for ECP is TPS but not always correct.
TPS circa £130. O-rings full set from dealer around £6 IIRC.
Replace all of the rings first before TPS.
Even if it turned out to be TPS (which I doubt) if the rings have never been changed, they will be near the end of their life.

Dumb question, what's a TPS?

Picking up new plastic fuel pipes and o rings on Saturday.

Throttle position sensor.

Of course! Also having a VAG, TPS in my mind keeps coming up as Trade Parts Specialist or Tyre Pressure Sensor lol

Have now replaced all the fuel lines, done the egr valve. Drives great now but under hard acceleration the EPC fault still comes up. Anyone recommend someone to diagnose it in the Burton-on-Trent area?

Fuel filter was done around 2000 miles ago. The starting is better, but still seems to turn over for a while. When I last had it plugged in, the EGR was showing a fault and there was an unexplained fuel pressure fault. I suspect this may be the issue, but it was just recorded as low fuel pressure in the rail.

Is the car parked on flat ground or on a slope?

Was it the 3 clear pipes you replaced or others?

Fault was Rail pressure monitoring control variation, P1187-032.

Did the 3 clear pipes and all the o rings. Happens on the level, part fuelled, fully fuelled. It's not predictable at all.

It decided not to start again today. I think a trip to my local diesel specialist for an injector test. Suspect it may have one leaking.

Just heard back from Swadlincote Diesel. It seems I have 4 leaking injectors and 3 of the 6 are the wrong ones for the car! Looks like it will probably need a full set.[emoji22]
